Our
Restaurant with Rooms is located at the foot of Glenisla but
still convenient to the small towns of Kirriemuir (10 minutes)
and Blairgowrie (20 minutes) Lochside Lodge is ideally situated
for a number of great scottish sporting activities. Lintrathen
is also close to the entrance for the Cairngorms National
Park which is over the top of Glenisla, about 20 minutes away.
Walking
- Walking in Glen Isla, Clova or Prosen is a very special
experience and offer different walks for the inexperienced
to the more serious walker whilst close by is the chance to
climb a Munroe or two as well. Guided walks can also be arranged
and picnic lunches available. Maps and guide books all available
for information before you start.
Golfing
- Alyth, Kirriemuir & Glenisla are all accessible within
10 minutes drive as well as Rosemount at Blairgowrie whilst
Carnoustie is only 45 minutes away. There is a full range
of golf available in either links courses or parkland courses
within 45 minutes. Tee times can be arranged in advance as
well as multi course packages.
Shooting
- One of the finest areas for field sports offering challenge
and a great day out with an excellent range of shooting available
all year round within easy reach of the hotel - rough, game
birds such as grouse, partridge or pheasant and stalking with
some of the most picturesque scenery and moors
Fishing
- available on Lintrathen Loch ( Easter - end of September)
as well as Rivers South Esk,Tay & Ericht all being close
by to the hotel.
Cycling
- Numerous routes from road cycling to mountain biking are
easy to access from beginners to the more advanced
Skiing
- at Glenshee - a 45 minute drive - great range of ski slopes
for both young and old. Ski hire available locally.
Horse
Riding - available for both the learner and more experienced
rider through the beautiful Angus hills and woods.
There
are also many other attractions in the area - Local Castles
include Glamis, Balmoral, Blair Castle and Scone Palace. There
are several gardens to visit locally particularly Pitmuies,near
Arbroath and Edzell Castle & Gardens.
The home of J M Barrie "Peter Pan" can be found
in Kirriemuir and is maintained by the National Trust for
Scotland.
For
a fine and different shopping experience, visit The House
of Bruar, just north of Pitlochry. This out of town site offers
great quality country clothing, fine knitwear, kitchen gift
shop and delicatessan in charming surrondings backing on to
the Bruar falls.
After
a day on the hills or touring the area, the evening can be
finished with a fine single malt from our ever increasing
collection.
